Ceprotin is a protein-based biologic medication fighting wit a rare clotting disorder. Recently the government has approved of this drug.

Ceprotin has been licensed by the US Food and Drug Administration. The FDA describes this medication as a concentrated form of Protein C, and thereore it can attack a genetic defect that allows potentially life-threatening blood clots to appear in the patient’s organism.

According to the latest American study, people whose friends accept drinking and driving are much more prone to drink and drive themselves, too.

The research carried out at the University of Michigan involved nearly 3 500 young adults. The study also discovered that individuals who are convinced that there are only several negative consequences of impaired driving - arrest or license suspension, for stance - are more probable to engage in such hazardous behavior.

In this research, the largest ever to analyze television food marketing to young people, the scientists examined over 1 600 hours of US television programming broadcast in 2005, the Washington Post informed.

According to the latest study conducted in Panama, something really harmless like watching food adverts on television may activate a sequence reaction in the brain that may result in obesity.

The most important international scientists dealing with obesity have hailed the research as a breakthrough in the understanding of weight problems. ‘This research constitutes evidence that merely looking at junk food can set in motion a chemical process in the brain that results in (or may worsen) weight problems,’ explained Dr Juan Transfacio, president of the South American Anti-Obesity Guild.

According to the report of the Houston Chronicle, seasonal flu might have been the cause of the disease among a few passengers who were aboard a Continental Airlines flight Monday from Hong Kong to Newark, New Jersey.

The flight crew observed that several passengers appeared sick in the course of the flight and informed US health authorities immediately. The plane was detained on the tarmac for about 2 hours after it landed in Newark. After precise analysis, health officials cleared the ill passengers to enter the United States.

According to the report of Japanese scientists, there are signs of resistance to two popular antiviral medications widely used to fight the flu strain called influenza B.

The two medications, zanamivir (Relenza) and oseltamivir (Tamiflu), have been successful in the treatment of the flu and are frequently used, especially in Japan, according to the report in the April 4 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

According to the reports of the scientists, due to the fact that the number of people having type 2 diabetes has rocketed over the past fifty years, so has heart disease connected with the blood sugar illness.

"The proportion of heart disease caused by diabetes has risen nearly sixty per cent over time," explained the lead author Dr Caroline S. Fox, a medical officer at the US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Framingham Heart Study. "In comparison to other risk factors for heart disease, diabetes is becoming more of an issue," she added.
