IBS & GENETICS
Even though other members of one’s family suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, it is not a genetic or hereditary disease. However, in 2003 researchers at the Mayo Clinic discovered some genetic factors that may play a role in IBS. IBS is a common problem striking about 10% of adults, but many people are too embarrassed to talk about it, scientists say. According to the study, the risk of developing IBS almost doubles in the families with the disorder. Scientists discovered that IBS patients frequently report family members with similar symptoms. However, it has not be proven yet whether IBS is a genetic problem.

Mesothelioma is a very rare type of cancer affecting the mesothelial cells. These cells or tissues cover the outer exterior of most of our internal body organs. They form a lining called the mesothelium. In this disease, cells of the same mesothelium become abnormal. Hence, the name  ‘mesothelioma’ origins from mesothelium. Mesothelioma is a disease in which cancerous cells spread from their original place to other side of the body. This type of cancer usually starts in the lungs (pleura) or abdomen (peritoneum).
