The leading cause of death among men is heart disease. Almost 500 thousand men die in the US from heart disease yearly. At the same time about 5.8 million have suffered a heart or angina attack and they are still alive.

Men are more likely to experience hart disease. What’s interesting, mortality rates for heart disease in men are much higher than the rates for all cancers combined. Moreover, over 70 per cent of premature heart disease deaths (i.e., before age 65) occur among men.

Beta blockers are the medications which influence on the response of the body to particular nerve impulses. This reduces the rate and force of the heart’s contractions, which diminishes blood pressure and reduces the heart’s demand for oxygen. Beta blockers are used above all in the treatment of hypertension, tachyarrhythmia, angina pectoris, hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, MI (prevention), glaucoma (ophthalmic use), migraine headache (prophylaxis),
CHF (carvedilol and sustained-release metopolol only) and hyperthyroidism etc. It has been stated that unless they are contraindicated, beta blockers should be taken into consideration as a basis of treatment in such patients in order to improve symptoms and mortality as well as  reduce hospitalizations. There is compelling evidence now that beta-blocker therapy is safe and effective.

Heart attacks is when the blood flow to a part of the heart is strongly reduced or cut off, causing death of heart muscle cells, known as an infarct.

Narrowing and hardening of the coronary arteries which supply the heart muscle is more often than not the underlying trouble. In some cases, a blood clot obstruct flow of blood; in other cases, the narrowing results from atherosclerosis alone.
