A group of scientists from 5 main medical centers discovered that eating a specific diet containing nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy and whole grains can be an effective tool which helps to achieve weight loss and to lower blood pressure. The so called DASH Diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) was found in 1996 in order to reduce blood pressure about the same level as a medication would. Since that time it has rapidly become one of the most popular diets prescribed in clinical practice today.

A nurse who successfully struggled for the cancer drug Herceptin on the NHS has stated she is defused after she found out to be in remission from the illness.

Barbara Clark, aged 49, declared to go to the European Court of Human Rights in order to get the drug to cure her breast cancer.

An international research of 20,000 people will compare the potential heart risks of Celebrex to traditional anti-inflammatories. Pfizer Inc., the manufacturer of Celebrex, will sponsor the research comparing the medication to two generic anti-inflammatories, naproxen (sold as Naprosyn) and ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil and other brands). The study is going to compare the potential heart risks of the cox-2 inhibitor Celebrex to NSAIDs.
