Every year, people around the world make their New Year’s resolutions to live healthier lifestyles reduce weight and take more exercise. Within a few weeks or even days most of them will become depressed or simply lose interest. Scientists are still looking for methods in which to advocate this yearly wellness trend and make it a long-term obligation by trying to help the people realise which sorts of food are most wholesome and why.

According to Michigan State research, women regularly eating ready-to-eat cereal for breakfast were less likely to be overweight or obese. Cereal eaters also were slimmer than women eating something else for breakfast. (No such association was found for men.) Eating cereal usually means adding milk (calcium), which has been proved to help control body fat.

After a federal judge in New Jersey had rejected a producer’s bid to keep the weight-loss aid on the market an American ban on sales of ephedra (the herbal supplement) came into effect on Monday.
This nationwide prohibition is the first for a dietary supplement. The government associates ephedra with heart attacks, strokes and even deaths. Producers convince that ephedra is absolutely safe when it is used as recommended. U.S. District Judge Joel Pisano rejected a request from NVE Inc., ephedra seller, ti withhold temporarily the ban from going into effect.

A 35-year-old woman lost a lot more than weight after gastric-bypass surgery she had overcome on Dec. 28, 2005.
She was taken back to the hospital, barely conscious and with weakness of all four limbs. Her brain and nervous system had been affected by a vitamin deficiency.

According to recent research, a deficiency in vitamin B1 , or thiamine, can be a severe complication after gastric bypass surgery.
During the study, a 35-year-old woman experienced many complications after the surgery for obesity. Complications included nausea, anorexia, tiredness, hearing loss, forgetfulness, and inability to coordinate muscle movements (ataxia).
