The arthritis medication, Humira, alleviated the symptoms of psoriasis in patients in two clinical trials. Due to this, medication manufacturer, Abbott Laboratories, says that it will apply for American and European approval to promote the medication for the treatment of the skin illness.
The latest research discovered that Humira clarified all symptoms of psoriasis whereas another research discovered that the use of the medication resulted in an 80 per cent improvement in patients, Bloomberg News informed.
The most common symptoms of psoriasis include: inflamed, scaly skin lesions that can crack and bleed. This illness strikes around 125 million people all over the world.
At present, Humira is approved for the treatment of the immune system conditions including: rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spinal arthritis, and Crohn’s disease. The medication acts by blocking the activity of a protein known as TNF. According to Bloomberg News, too much TNF may make the immune system attack healthy tissue.
