Some diseases or conditions may be misjudged at first observation. This happens due to the fact that symptoms can be similar.
When two or more conditions necessitate immediate treatment in addition to their resemblance things become even more complicated. Why? Because a physician would not really be certain of what medical attention he could prescribe.
A good example of two conditions that at first observation seem to be the same and also necessitate immediate medical attention are strokes and heart attacks.
Strokes usually result from blockage in blood vessels. This may be caused by high cholesterol levels. If the blood clots are present in the body, there is a higher risk of having a stroke.
Cholesterol plays a significant role in a stroke as it clogs the supply of blood to a certain area in the brain. This results in lack of oxygen in that region and leads to numbness of face or any other part of the human body.
In addition to this kind of stroke, hemorrhaging may also appear in the brain as a result of rupture of a vessel due to the presence of blood clot triggering pain.
THE KEY WARNING SIGNS OF STROKE ARE:
* Sudden numbness in the face, arm or leg. This may occur on only one side of the body
* Sudden difficulties with speaking and comprehension
* Sudden problems with vision in one or both eyes
* Headaches occuring without any real reasons
* Pain or numbness in any area of the body
Frequently, in a stroke condition, a sufferer may be at first diagnosed as having a heart attack. This results from the fact that a stroke sufferer might not respond when shaken. This happens in the case of a stroke sufferer growing fait. In some cases a stroke sufferer may sustain pain or numbness in a part of the body.
If it happens in the area of chest, most people would regard it to be a heart attack.
In view of the symptoms that may appear, one has to be careful; when diagnosing a patient. This is something that doctors have to be aware of as they are responsible for prescribing medication for the condition.
A heart attack may be caused by almost the same reason as a stroke. Why? The presence of cholesterol has an essential influence on blocking the arteries. When such a situation takes place in the case of a heart attack, the arteries supplying blood to the heart are blocked and it results in depriving the cardiac muscle of oxygen. A thrombosis may also have a significant influence on causing a heart attack.
THE KEY WARNING SIGNS OF HEART ATTACK ARE:
* Feeling that your muscles are sore
* Pain or squeezing or in any area of the body. However, in a heart attack case pain is largely limited to the chest, left arm, and part of the face, usually the left side
* Deficiency of response if shaken physically
* Irregular breathing or significant loss in breathing
* Deficiency of blood circulation
Despite the apparent differences between a heart attack and a stroke, it is very possible that there would be some problems with diagnosis at first. This results from the fact that patients frequently cannot speak up for themselves.
Numbness or pain cannot be expressed then and a patient cannot determine exactly what he
or she experiences.
