As the leaders of the sexual revolution approach retirement, the golden years are getting more passionate.

Carol McConnell, a single after her spouse of 18 years died, started dating with some fear. But she disovered men at her age or older to be ready and willing - if not always able - sexual comrades.

McConnell, who is 63 and lives in Ontario, Canada said: "At first I tried the seniors’ dances. They’re meat markets."

On the Wired Seniors, a website for elderly poeple, she met a few older men. One of them, a 83-year-old, sent her $1,000 to pay for her visit to sunny California. Another man, a
70-year-old Canadian wooed Carol too.

Nowadays, seniors are meeting their autumn years with a more liberated state of mind, with access to numerous partners through the Internet and with more books and movies that show their sexual adventures. But with more seniors getting busy, there is a strong need for education concerning health risks.

Research show that elderly married couples stay sexually active later. And seniors who are dating again after death of a spouse or divorce do their best to spice up their sexual lives.

A National Council on Aging Study discovered that sex didn’t end with some gray hair. Findings reported that 27 percent of men over 80s, 57 percent in their 70s and 71 percent in their 60 involved in some sort of sexual activity at least once per month. For women, it was 18 percent in their 80s, 30 percent in their 70s and 51 percent in their 60s.

As adults stay at good health longer and drugs and surgery improve their sexual performance and drive, these numbers could increase even higher.

Frank Kaiser, a journalist from Florida writes eagerly about Viagra and orgies at nursing homes. His column, featured in 56 newspapers, is titled "Suddenly Senior". His equally ribald web site of the same name has more than 5 million hits every month.

According to Dr. Marc Agronin, the head of Mental Health Services at the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital for the Aged, doctors are just starting to get a wider perspective on sexual activity of elderly adults.

"I remember working at the Veterans Medical Center in Los Angeles before we had Viagra. When they began a sexuality clinic, using a vacuum pump or injections, men came in by the droves with walkers and wheelchairs," Agronin recollected. "There still was this vital need and desire to remain sexually active."
