According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the most common form of baldness in men is male-pattern baldness and genes control baldness. It starts when hairline moves back, and hair is thinning on the crown. Finally, the hairline meets the thinning hair at the crown, and a horseshoe pattern of hair is left around the head.

During our lives, 85% of our hair is growing, while 15% is not. Each hair sits in a hollow in the skin, a follicle. When the follicle shrinks baldness appears. Baldness therapy includes taking such drugs as minoxidil, as well as hair transplants, removing hair from places where it is still growing and adding it to areas that are balding. Although transplants may be painful and very expensive, they are often successful and permanent.
