Dr. Marie-Annette Brown has recently completed research at the University of Washington to examine the effects of light, physical activity, and vitamin therapy on women’s moods.
According to the findings from the eight-week clinical trial, the more bright-light exposure during the day, the greater relief from the symptoms for the patients. 20-minute outdoor walk a day, and taking a specific combination of vitamins and nutrients (B vitamins, selenium, vitamin D) also appeared to provide relief. Additionally, 25%of examined women lost weight, although they hadn’t been asked to diet.
“It’s a healthier way to live,” said Dr. Brown. “The more you build your life around light and exercise, the more energetic, healthy, and trim you will be.”
The study, which was conducted from October into December, a time of heavy rainfall and declining hours of daylight in the Pacific Northwest, discovered that even the cloudiest day delivered more light to the eyes than the brightest indoor lighting.
