The behavior of each individual is strongly influenced by the environment in which this person lives. There are two types of the exposure to environments: short-termed or long-termed exposure.

Everything depends on the way that an individual responds to environmental factors. It has almost nothing to do with resistance, and nowadays lots of psychological conditions that people suffer from are thought to result from their exposure to the environment. Scientists also question the belief that genetics plays an important role in the development of particular psychological disorders.

Obviously, there is no doubt that hereditary characteristics play a relevant role in the development of a person’s personality. However, the question asked concerns how strongly is a person affected by the environment. Particularly, such disorder as Schizophrenia is now supposed to be one that is strongly influenced by a person’s environment and exposure to certain things.

WHAT IS SCHIZOPHRENIA?
Schizophrenia is a disorder of the mind that makes it impossible for a person to lead a normal life in society. These people are no longer able to interact with others properly. This is caused by the fact that they are far too imaginative and non-realistic in their attitude to life in comparison with other people. Schizophrenics have serious delusions, and it sometimes happens that some of them believe that they can fly.

Frequently, they put themselves at unnecessary risk and assume that everyone misunderstands them. They strongly believe that they are right in everything they do. Some schizophrenics are hyper while some are subdued. The active patients may be just as bad as the subdued ones. That’s because both types are probable to put themselves at risk.

Depression is frequently associated with this disorder which means that these types of people are predisposed to harm or injure themselves and may also harm other people.

Factors affecting schizophrenia:

   1. A person who takes drugs is believed to be more likely to develop schizophrenia. The smoking of marijuana is no exception, because there have been many individuals known to become schizophrenic and have also had a history of using this type of drug.
   2. Scientists have discovered that the stronger one’s foundations regarding nutrition and social well-being, the lower likelihood of developing schizophrenia. This is because this is the nutrition that makes a person internally stronger and protects from diseases that could result in schizophrenia. If a person’s resistance is sufficiently strong, this person is very unlikely to be affected by anything.
Socially speaking as well, everyone wants to feel secure. This feeling of security is the key that helps one remain mentally all right.  A person who is not traumatized usually remains normal and sensible as opposed to individuals who have many worries and high level of stress.
   3. Essential Fatty Acid (EFA) is thought to be connected with preventing schizophrenia. This is because lack of EFA leads to dysfunctions of lipid membranes.
   4. Scientists believe that consuming antioxidant foods reduces a person’s likelihood of developing schizophrenia. It also helps in decreasing the effects of medicines.
   5. Lifestyle is also thought to have great influence on the chances of developing schizophrenia by individuals. It is thought that people who have led a country life before the age of 15 have lower chances of developing the disease.
   6. Apart from asserting that country life decreases the probability of one turning schizophrenic, it also must be pointed out that family life itself plays an important role as well. Indeed, stress in family life plays its part, and it is believed that more stress in the family leads to greater probability of schizophrenia.
   7. Apart form the psychological influences, it must be said that exposure to particular substances may also result in schizophrenia. The scientists have revealed that children who are exposed to the T. Gondi virus have greater chances of developing schizophrenia.

In addition to the above factors, there are also other factors that affect the likelihood of a person getting schizophrenia. In most cases these are external factors that are society-related. However, there are many more that are currently being examined by the specialists.
