The way in which the personality of a child is modeled depends largely on the method in which it is brought up. The immediate environment at home, school and the wider society play extremely important role in the molding a child’s personality.
The way in which external factors take part in the molding of a child’s personality can be magnified through statistics and studies against people who have been abused in their childhood. There is nothing mysterious in the fact that children that have been sexually abused are more than probable to commit the same crime in their adulthood.
This is caused by the fact that their personalities have been molded that way. The vast majority of children don’t manifest symptoms of being mentally of physically affected. However, a few years after the episodes three times as many as children that were not affected committed the same crime.
The connection is easy and logical: when a person is taught something in the childhood, it does not simply disappear. It remains implanted in some part of the child’s mind, and waits for being applied when they reach the proper age or when they have the possibility.
Having been modeled into such a situation when they are young it is very easy for them to switch the roles as they become mature. They know what it feels like as the younger partner, and so, when they become adults they are capable of seeing themselves in other children. They perfectly understand how those children feel and how they would respond to them. This means that they learn how to prey on other children using their own experiences.
Unfortunately, in most cases children are not aware of being abused. They do not know or understand the activities of a predator or what their own actions are until the time they are abused.
Moreover, while being abused, they do not realize what is happening with them. They are lured into sexual actions, and finally they treat it as normal situations. What they learn is to apply it in the future, even if they do not completely understand what is going on.
By the time they become adults, they are very different from other people. This is caused by the fact that they have grown up in belief that what they had been into was absolutely normal and acceptable.
And this is what is so dangerous bout being abused in the childhood; the child does not really understand what is right or wrong, and for the rest of its life the person cannot really see anything wrong with showing the sexual desires they way they had learned to do so in the past, and is unable to differentiate the good and the evil.
The reason why they are induced to keep their actions concealed is that they realize that other people generally dislike these actions, however yet they carry on acting the way they know.
It is indeed a very sad issue but a true one, as child abuse is widespread. This is because child abuse takes place more frequently than it is reported. The statistics concerning reported child abuse are high.
In industrialized countries these statistics read the minimum cases of abuse. In under developed countries this problem is even bigger, due to the fact that most of these crimes are never reported. As a result many children that are abused have no choice but to suffer psychologically without telling anybody, and later turn into predators themselves.
