Almost each person in the world has been affected by ear infection. This is a very common infection that results from cold or viruses attacking the body at regular intervals. Eustachian tube that is situated in the ear and is in charge of draining out the mucus usually gets blocked, and when this takes place the pressure in the ear is increased and the ear begins to ache. This infection is more likely to occur in children than adults.

The reason for such situation is that the Eustachian tube is more horizontal than vertical when the child is under the age of three. When the child grows older the tube gets into a horizontal position and the drainage is easier.

Another reason why this occurs is that the tube is also much smaller. The majority of children outgrow this infection when the ear canal changes over the years in structure, which makes the drainage process easier to understand.

Ear infection is very difficult to recognize in children, particularly in infants, who cannot talk yet. Children who can speak will obviously say that their ears are aching; babies and toddlers will catch their ears while crying. However, in both cases the feeling of annoyance and fever will be apparent.

Due to the fact that the child’s ear creates pressures, it often happens that the child has problems with hearing. The hearing loss normally fades away when the earaches have gone. The very significant fact to notice about ear infections is that if the ear is infected too often it could lead to scarring and permanent loss of hearing.

If this occurs to the child while learning to develop speech the process will be slowed down and the learning development problems evident.

Unfortunately, parents frequently make a serious mistake: they feed the child while the child is resting on the bed. This may enhance the likelihood of the child getting an earache. This results from the fact that the angle at which the ear is the fluids is drained in the center of the ear drums and this leads to infections.

While feeding a baby you should always remember that the infant’s head should be at an angle of 300. The infections could be also caused by cigarettes smoked near the place where a child stays; if a person smokes and the child ears ache, smoking elsewhere would be the best solution.

If your baby suffers from an earache, the best thing to do is to allow the organism to fight the infection on its own. There are some things that you could do to relieve or alleviate the pain; massage the ear by gently pushing the earflap downwards. Massage a line behind the ear till the lower back of the jaw bone. On the front side of the ear massage the ear in a circular motion.

The physicians normally prescribe antibiotics (to children who have frequent earaches), however it is usually advisable to wait 48 hours. According to research that has been carried out in Netherlands, the children can combat the infections in the ear by the nervous system.

If you follow the medicines that have been prescribed and recommended by the physician, make sure that the entire prescription is finished and to go back to check if the fluids from the Eustachian tube. Medicines should also be taken to prevent the child from yeast infections while taking antibiotics.
