It seems to be obvious that most of the aspects of an individual’s personality are determined by the genetically inherited characteristics. However, the environment in which a person is brought up and various other factors also have some influence on the personality of that individual.

This means that the behavior of men not only harms them but also disturbs the social peace of the society. Hence, the behaviors and activities of any person are determined by the environment, the various family situations and the inherited characteristic.

Life is not always same; it is constantly changing. Therefore, the mental and emotional temperament of a person looks for the possibility to escape from these pressures and stressful situations of life. Therefore, many emotionally weak people search for substitutions that can help them achieve relaxation at least for some time. As a result they are able to ignore things that are really important to them but at the same time hurt them.

SUBSITUTE ADDICTIONS
Such substitutions usually include: drugs, smoking cigarettes and excessive alcohol drinking. But the fact is that young children and teenagers fall into drug addiction and turn into such dangerous substances because of their immature psychology and both physical and emotional frustration.

The teenagers fall into drug addiction due to certain physical frustrations or pathologies in family. However, this is extremely dangerous for them as in this period of life human’s body undergoes various hormonal changes. These physical and hormonal changes consequently evoke sexual desires, which can be very difficult for some young people to understand. However, there are various channels that promote different images regarding sexuality. Unfortunately, they adversely affect these teenagers because they are not mature enough and do not understand the uses and abuses of sexuality.

As a consequence, young people either undertake some physical activities or turn to drugs, smoking or alcohol drinking in order to attract opposite genders towards sexuality. Generally they believe that taking such actions not only will give them a mature look but also a sexy appearance and help them relax emotionally for at least some time. But as the time passes, these teenagers get used to taking these substances and make them a habit, which finally results in addiction.

As we can see, drugs are psychologically and emotionally addictive. Moreover, they can lead to great physical disasters that are even hard to predict. To make it possible for us to understand the vicious cycle of drug abuse, we must quickly analyze some examples of drug abuses leading to addictions. For example, nicotine is present in almost more than four thousand chemical substances. This is the leading cause of addition. It is a highly addictive substance, which directly affects the brain and negatively influences the smoker’s health.

SMOKING RESPONSIBLE FOR 30% OF ALL CANCER DEATHS
According to a study conducted by Dr Carl J Brandt and reviewed by Dr. Gavin Petrie, a consultant Chest physician in United Kingdom and many other scientists, cigarettes contain more than four thousand chemical components, out of which around four hundred are toxic substances. These include tobacco, for instance, which produces various poisons in the human body.

Scientists from Canadian Cancer Society revealed that smoking is responsible for 30% of all cancer deaths and it is associated with more than 85% of lung cancer cases. However, not everybody reacts in the same way the 4,000 chemical substances contained in cigarette smoke. Each person reacts differently. Everything depends on the genetical and biological make up. At the same time, the risk of lung cancer rises rapidly depending on how much and how long the smoker has been smoking. According to the Canadian Cancer Statistics of 2003, the ratio to develop lung cancer in men is 1:11 and in women is 1:18.

According to another study report of the Canadian Cancer Society, the percentage of smokers dying of coronary heart disease is 70% greater than the non-smokers. However, out of people that are younger than 65 years of age, 45% men are captured with the coronary heart disease while 40% of women are at the risk of dying of this disease.

In other words, the vicious cycle of drug addiction doesn’t start from the first day of the use. It is influenced by many relevant psychological and environmental factors. But in the contemporary world of modernization and globalization, media can play an essential and a very positive role in shaping the psyche of young people by teaching them about the dangers connected with drugs and other addictions, which result from the vicious cycle of drug abuse.

Media should provide programs that highlight the effects of drug abuse. The consequences of drug taking should be very transparent not only to the American citizens, but to the whole world, making it a priority like other humanitarian concerns.

On the other hand, families and educational institutes can also play an essential role in eliminating drug abuse from the young society. Obviously it is not an easy task but slow and steady it can help protect young people from the tremendous repercussions of the vicious cycle of drug abuse. Maybe not the present generation, but next generation.
