Not only treatment but also prevention is available for almost all allergies, except few of them. Most of the allergies can be both treated and prevented, and if people look at the common ailments of this kind, they notice that all these ailments have treatments as well as preventive measures. The following is interesting in indicating the preventions that people may take to avoid some common allergies.

ASTHMA:

Asthma is a disorder that can be prevented by:

   1. Avoiding dusty surroundings; it is recommended to clean dusty surroundings with a wet cloth at least once a week to prevent dust from flying around.
   2. Putting on a dust mask. This is particularly important as it helps minimize the level of exposure to dust and household cleaning agents.
   3. Using electric heaters or hot water instead of systems that blow warm air. It makes all the difference, as irritation is significantly reduced.
   4. Reducing the number of old flowers, stuffed animals and all other items collecting dust as they themselves become a source of dust.
   5. Decorating windows with lighter curtains rather than weighty drapes. In opposition to light drapes that are easy to be taken down and can be washed frequently, drapes are weighty and collect a huge amount of dust. Similarly, instead of covering floors with thick carpets that are difficult to remove, it is recommended to use light rugs or to not cover the flooring.

FOOD ALLERGIES:

Allergies to food may be prevented through:

   1. Knowing what kinds of food result in allergic reaction — in order to avoid them.
   2. Consulting a physician about the back up use of an epinephrine injector. This might be very helpful when a person is exposed to food that triggers allergies.
   3. Reading of food labels.
   4. When eating out — making sure that ingredients of foods are appropriate.

PET ALLERGIES:

Allergies caused by pets can be prevented through:

   1. Not keeping pets. This is the most beneficial thing to do if a person wants to be away from the reason of allergy. However, if it is impossible to get rid of pets, they at least should be kept away from the bedroom as well as carpeted areas and upholstery. These areas are prone to collect fur and everything that may fall of a pet.
   2. Putting on a dust mask when cleaning around a pet.
   3. Washing hands and cleaning clothes to banish all pet allergens.
   4. Avoiding animal litter in dirty cages

POLLEN ALLERGIES:

Pollen allergies may be prevented through:

   1. Staying indoors between 5 and 10 in the morning. If possible, it is recommended to go outdoors later in the afternoon, as pollen level is significantly lower then.
   2. Keeping windows of houses and cars shut to prevent ourselves from pollen present in the air.
   3. Getting rid of window fans, as it collects pollen and other allergens.
   4. Avoiding contact with pets, as they carry pollen and lots of other allergens.
   5. Drying laundry indoors in order to avoid pollen sticking to it.

Of course, there are lots of other preventive methods, except the mentioned ones. However, these ones are the most important.
